Rachael Flohrs, MHA
Chief Executive Officer
Rachael Flohrs joined Burkwood Treatment Center as Chief Executive Officer in June 2021. Her passion for helping those who are struggling with mental health, addiction, and co-occurring disorders, along with a successful history of consistent organizational improvement, makes Rachael the ideal leader for Burkwood Treatment Center.
Rachael has an extensive history in healthcare leadership in for profit and nonprofit settings at different levels of care including inpatient, outpatient, and residential. Most recently, Rachael worked for the University of Minnesota Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences helping to navigate the mental healthcare response to the COVID-19 pandemic and increase patient access to care. Prior to this work, Rachael led the mental health and addiction services at St. Joseph’s hospital. During her leadership, St. Joseph’s expanded services to 115 inpatient beds, including the opening of a specialized treatment program for pregnant clients experiencing opiate addiction. Rachael was also the Director of Performance Improvement and Risk Management at a behavioral health hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky before moving back to her home state of Minnesota.
Her demonstrated leadership abilities include team building and executive leadership development, performance improvement, mental health advocacy, and business development including new service lines.
Rachael received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Gustavus Adolphus College and her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota.
